History of Curacao Gade. For the first century, the site of 9 & 10 Curacao Gade and its buildings were dedicated to shipping, warehouse, and merchant-related activities owned by C. Wolf. The oldest permanent structures date back to the mid-1850s. At some point in the early 20th Century, the western warehouse was extended closer to the waterfront. In the 1970s, a second story was added, and used as offices and apartments until 2017 when Irma and Maria hit. Old photos from the ‘70s show neglect starting in that period. Irma and Maria caused the final demise of Curacao Gade and rendered the property uninhabitable.
